It's spring! I wanted to paint flowers; just for the joy of painting color. And just for fun, I wanted to use the Pantone Color of the Year for 2015: Radiant Orchid. I loved the color and loved the idea of incorporating such a rich, vibrant shade into a still life.

by Artist Barbara Haviland Wendy took me to an orchid nursery in Austin and this is one I found to paint. It is done in oils on a 12x12 canvas. They had many unusual orchids and the painting is signed and not framed. Click to Purchase BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com

Was I ever awed by the display of these unusual orchids last week! I caved in and bought some to add to my meager collection. I think there will be a series of paintings coming out of this. This is a small study for my daily workout.
