My new DVD

Morning Gifts Sunflowers was one of my class demonstrations in North Texas last weekend. We painted daisies, peonies, glads, stock, sunflowers and roses, with an emphasis on bold, bright color. It's really an honor to have students give up their free time to study with me, I never dreamed 10 years ago I would have a whole new career I absolutely loved - as a teacher. Visit my art blog for pictures of my students hard at work making flowers bloom!

This week I'll be spending some time with mom, packing up supplies to ship to my Memphis, Tennessee class, and organizing outlet adapters and leakproof containers of shampoos and lotions to PACK LIGHT for my trip to France! One friend said she always takes her own coffee with her when she travels overseas. Considering my new-found addiction to iced coffee, I'm sure contemplating how I could manage that....

Shining Through Sunflowers was my class demonstration this morning in Flower Mound Studio. We had an exciting day, hosting a student who flew down from Delaware for a private lesson. The pugs especially were delighted with Judith's visit, since this lovely lady has a bulldog and spent a great deal of time lavishing affection and words of praise and adoration upon my little snuffle nosed helpers.

On another exciting note, I'm delighted to announce registration has opened for my Shreveport, Louisiana workshop! If you think Texas has a lot of talented artists, I highly recommend you take a peek at the talent pool in Louisiana, too. It is striking how many accomplished painters these two states have between them. My next goal is to join some of these ladies for their plein air outings in an effort to become as immune to the heat in the name of chasing the light, and art in its truest form. Stay tuned for that journey to come! (Now that it's 100 degrees out each day, it might be a few months, but stay tuned...!)

Petal Rain Sunflowers was my class demonstration during my 3-day workshop at Davis and Company Gallery located in the heart of Spring, Texas, a charming little Texas town with lots of wonderful shopping, history and restaurants. Melissa Doron, an accomplished artist and the owner of Davis and Company Gallery, has been such a wonderful hostess and I'm afraid she is spoiling us quite rotten! Coffee and treats in the mornings, wine in the afternoons...oh my.... What a treat to paint in such a beautiful venue, such great light, large open spaces, and walls filled with the work of artists from across Texas and around the country.

We painted blue hydrangeas yesterday, tackled sunflowers today, and tomorrow we paint white daisies and peonies. Stay tuned to my art bloggy for more pictures to come!
