On Fridays, I meet with a group of artist friends to paint and do art talk! We often set up a still life of flowers which one of the participants brings for set up! "A Touch of Orange", a still life watercolor painting on paper, is inspired by this mixed bouquet of beautiful summer flowers! The loose interpretation of the bouquet makes for a lively and spontaneous creation resulting from a delightful painting experience! This is the final (I hope) posting of this set-up.  My personal critic (my daughter Carol) mentioned that the flowers had more detail than the teapot so I  had to add blue on the bottom of the teapot.

Truly, when I looked at my set-up and the reflections...I ONLY saw the white...no blue.  I admit, though it does look better with more detail.  If one side is detailed...the other HAS to be too.

I like painting reflections...it is a challenge...and we can use that old  "artistic license"!

Flowers blooming, sunny day, and a light breeze supported my plein air painting at Bella Arte Gallery. This all prima oil painting of pansies was one of two done at a demo for mothers day event at the gallery on Friday. 

My mother is the flower gardener extraordinaire. My love for them ties directly to her and her mother.

"Red Carnation" By Kelli Miller

This carnation was very difficult for me to paint. As hard as I tried I couldn't see the layers. I lost track of how many times I wiped it and started over! I finally got it on the umpteenth time. Woohoo!!
