Creamer Dreamer White Tulips was my class demonstration this morning during my North Texas end of year party-workshop. What could be more ideal than to paint French tulips during my French painting workshop? I totally lucked out with fresh tulips and peonies, so we're celebrating the occasion by painting the springtime bouquets while it's chilly outside. I'm a firm believer that color affects emotion, and fresh flowers lift spirits, so we're putting on bold color and chasing off the winter blues. Tomorrow we have some big prize giveaways, so stay tuned to my art bloggy!

Pinkberry Daisies is the newest daily painting in Flower Mound Studio, actually the fifth in a series of paintings begun yesterday afternoon and ending right about now, (this evening). You could say I've been binge painting, covering every subject that has been tickling the muses. Sunflowers, blue and white irises, white daisies and pink stock, and more sunflowers, because one can never have too many sunflowers.... Almost always, I begin a painting based more on a color I want to play with, than a flower that represents the mix. What have you been painting lately? Are you driven more by subject, or by color?  Enquiring minds want to know!

It's been a busy week, just home from a sold out workshop near my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri, and the next morning I was off to film a new video, featuring sunflowers and strawberries in yummy colors. Also, my first DVD arrived last week for my new hydrangea video. As soon as I can locate a PC, (the instructions say you must watch the DVD on a Mac, a PC, and 2 different kinds of DVDs) then I'll have that hard copy ready for everyone who has been holding out for it! And, I've finally discovered, having your own art business means you work more hours a week than having two jobs. But I'm loving every moment of this wondrous, grand adventure.... What do you get when your lifetime dream comes true? Pure happiness.

Time for your closeup Mister Sunflower!

Grand Opening Pink Peonies is the newest daily painting in Flower Mound Studio. I was so excited in my quest for coffee at the grocery store today, to discover pink and white peonies! The gal behind the flower counter said they had just come in. I bought three bundles, and they were closed like tight little eggs. In 2 hours, they were already stretching their wings, by tomorrow they will be at their peak so stay tuned. I suspect we shall see a few more peony paintings before they shatter like glass, as the fragile, wonderful flowers tend to do after a few days... It's like they woke up and said "Hey, how did we end up in steamy, hot Texas???" and fainted dead away or something, kind of how I felt that time I visited New Orleans in July.
