Peach Sorbet is the newest large work on the easel, as I paint these fresh peonies as quickly as I can - after all, how many more times this winter will I find peonies in the market? I was thrilled to get a note informing me that the new owner of my latest Romantic Kitty painting was very happy with their new acquisition. Not only that, their kitty, Spike, liked it, too! Visit my bloggy to see the furry purry evidence! Though, I suspect Spike was more interested in the shipping box than the painting...

True story. The hubby and I were browsing the gourmet cheese aisle at the new Whole Foods near Flower Mound, Texas today. A woman walked by on her cell phone. She had peonies in her basket. I turned to my husband and said in a very, very calm voice: "Honey. They have peonies." He was browsing the olive bar and didn't really hear me. I said in a more serious tone. "HONEY. THEY HAVE PEONIES. I'VE GOT TO GO THE FLOWER SECTION. NOW."  I was very proud about what happened next. Read more....

Citrus White Tulip Bouquet is the newest daily painting in Flower Mound Studio. I've been admiring the pinkish color of Texas Grapefruit lately, and went on a quest tonight to find a tablecloth in that color, or even a scrap of clothing. After going through all the closets and storage bins, nothing, but then I saw a carton of scrapbook paper and there it was! After distributing several sheets artistically around the base of my vase, I found just the streaky lightened salmon type color I wanted. Sometimes it's not the flowers that call to me, it's another color I want to play against them. Do you ever find that to be the case? If so, I hope you are able to control your obsessive compulsive search a bit more than I am...maybe a glass of wine would have calmed me down a bit!

Pinkberry Daisies is the newest daily painting in Flower Mound Studio, actually the fifth in a series of paintings begun yesterday afternoon and ending right about now, (this evening). You could say I've been binge painting, covering every subject that has been tickling the muses. Sunflowers, blue and white irises, white daisies and pink stock, and more sunflowers, because one can never have too many sunflowers.... Almost always, I begin a painting based more on a color I want to play with, than a flower that represents the mix. What have you been painting lately? Are you driven more by subject, or by color?  Enquiring minds want to know!
