Frog In The Kitchen by Angela Sullivan

Frog In The Kitchen by Angela Sullivan
I don't know why I am here. I was outside in the garden when I noticed that someone had left the door open. I hopped as fast as I could and reached the front door. Unnoticed I jumped as fast as I could until I was in the kitchen. On the counter was this set of stacked bowls. I leaped up on the table and found my place. I go undetected even now. As people pass by they just think I am some little cute whatnot not a slimy green toad.

"Lilies on the Windowsill" Original Still Life Lily Painting by Colorado Artist Nancee Jean Busse

One of my paintings is featured in the July edition of American Art Collector Magazine!! http://www.americanartcollector.com/
They did an editorial on an upcoming show that 2 of my paintings were juried in to. The show, WAOWing the Centennial State is in Estes Park, CO, July 6-28. It's the 43rd Annual Exhibition of Women Artists of the West. "Lilies on the Windowsill" was the large image chosen for the editorial!

When I buy fresh flowers I place them into a clear vase of some kind and photograph them in a variety of settings. i love the way the stems look through the glass and water. I love to discover where the light refracts, and how the light streams through the delicate petals. When I looked at the photos of this arrangement, I was pleased to see all of the purples and magentas and how the light shafted through the bouquet in places.

 Acrylic on Cradleboard, 18×24. 1300.00

Cut Up by Angela Sullivan

Cut Up by Angela Sullivan
I know I know every single day I say how much I enjoyed painting something. Yesterday
I was in my yard and my roses were blooming. I couldn't resist. I went straight into the house, got
the scissors and cut some nice blooms. I was taking pictures of the roses in an empty sliced peach can
when my grand daughter put the scissors against the can and said "Take a picture of this". When I looked at the pictures I just couldn't help but paint it. I really like this one. It has light and dark with which I always seem to struggle.

How Bout Them Apples? by Pamela Blaies

Granny Smiths and a Copper Pitcher
7" x 5"
oil on linen panel

I've been intrigued lately with these little Granny Smith apples I found at the market. I love their color and that they are so shiny and polished that they catch the light fabulously. Here I paired them with a copper pitcher. Check out my dailypaintworks site to see more of these delightful green apples.

Life's a Bowl of Cherries by Pamela Blaies

Bowl of Cherries

I love to paint cherries, but had a hard time getting my hands on any to paint over the winter and spring. The other day I was so excited when I found them at the market. I promptly bought 2 bags - one to eat and one to paint. Then I went on a little cherry painting binge. "Bowl of Cherries" just sold, but check my daily paintworks gallery to see more cherry paintings!

"Counterbalance" Original Still Life Floral Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

When I created the still life of calla lilies in my art studio, I was pleased with the arrangement of the lilies but knew I had to have some feature in the acrylic painting to counterbalance the natural orientation of flowers whose stem is unable to hold them upright! The yellow satin ribbon adds to the playfulness of the arrangement!

Honored to be Interviewed by Pamela Blaies

Red Delicious
6" x 6"
oil on linen

I was honored to be interviewed by a fellow artist, who features a different artist every month on her blog. It is a very engaging blog with lots of art. You can check out the interview HERE.

Red Delicious was another foray into Pthalo Blue. It makes intense blues/aquas, perfect for this blue glass jar. What really inspired me in this composition was the napkin. I loved the light play of the folds and the cast shadow of the blue glass.

Taming Pthalo by Pamela Blaies

6" x 6"
oil on linen

I've gotten a little behind on my posting and blogging. It's been a fun and full week with the kids' end of school parties, getting them ready for camp and my mom visiting. Today I will be working on painting #71 of 100. This petite painting project is so fun - experimenting with color and light, exploring composition and daily practice! On this one, I used Pthalo Blue instead of Ultramarine, just to see what it can do. It is strong and a little tough to tame, but wow, what beautiful deep reds it can make!

"Elegant Herb Study" Original Watercolor Still Life Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

No Time for Tea by Pamela Blaies

It is going to be crazier-than-usual busy around my house because of my kids' last week of school. I will have to be creative (and miss some sleep) to fit some painting in. What better time to loosen up my style a bit  with some quick teacup studies.
