Oh, Happy Day! by Pamela Blaies

Copper Teapot and Lemons
oil on linen
11" x 14"

Getting home from Georgetown Art in the Square Monday afternoon, I looked at my truck - packed to the brim with festival stuff and waiting to be unloaded. Then I walked into my studio, which looked like a tornado hit it and my kitty had coughed up a hairball in the middle of the carpet. I felt exhausted, so I decided "I'll think about that tomorrow." (I had to work that last quote in - I just finished reading "Gone with the Wind" last night.) Well, anyway, I haven't been able to do any painting all week, but my studio is now reorganized and looking fantastic. I also received a call from my gallery, Stinger Studio in Georgetown, with good news of several sales. Best of all, a new shipment of canvases just arrived! Painting day - Oh, happy day!

Pomegranate Study by Texas Artist Darla McDowell

At the market yesterday, I found the prettiest pomegranates. You may be seeing more of them, because they are so fun to paint!

I hope you're having a great week!

"Polished to Perfection' Original Red Truck Watercolor Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Who doesn't love the color "RED"! While roaming the grounds at a fall festival I spotted this old truck.
I couldn't wait to paint it, in fact I painted it three times, this painting being a watercolor.
It would have made my Mother proud, because as a lover of the color Red, she dressed me in red for 18 years of my life!

Daffodils are so pretty but I can seem to smell them. I wanted these to be simple and I think they are. They are done in yellows and browns on a stretched canvas. The painting is signed and ready to hang.

Bottle Still Life, "Vintage Bottle" by Carol Schiff, 8x10" Oil

I have become slightly obsessed with vintage bottles, well, maybe a little more than slightly.  I love the idea of these bottles, most of them reclaimed from the earth, crusty and sometimes pearlized.  I like to think about how they were used when they were new.....and if they have a crystal cross on top (called a cross bottle) all the better!

Purchase here

This one, obviously does not have a cross on the top.  It does have any absolutely gorgeous color, kind of a cobalt violet.  I am told the it started out as clear glass, but due to magnesium in the glass, has aged into a beautiful hue.

The other thing I love, is painting with wild abandon with loads of thick, creamy, oil paint and a combination of palette knife and brush.  So yes, this little painting hits my buttons on several levels.

Some days, I just go through the motions, and the resulting painting usually shows it,  but this one was pure joy!

Happy to be Back in the Studio by Pamela Blaies

Sunflower and Blue Plumbago
oil on linen
6" x 6"

I was excited to see several of my collectors from last year stop by my booth this past weekend at the Cottonwood Art Festival in Richardson, Texas. The Petite Paintings were a big hit and dozens found new homes. It is fun, but exhausting to exhibit in art festivals. I am finally getting rested up and back in the studio. Here is my newest Petite just up for auction.

Happy Halloween - Oil on Masonite - Tina Calle, Hickory, NC artist

Happy Halloween - 5x7 Oil on Masonite - Tina Calle, Hickory, NC artist

I love October. And on October 1st, we pull out all of the Halloween decorations. This little votive sits on my counter under the LED lights and gets lit up without a candle. I did this quick painting while helping a friend on her bigger painting. The people who have seen it love the feeling it evokes for October! Happy Halloween!

"A Touch of Orange" Original Still Life Flower Watercolor Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

On Fridays, I meet with a group of artist friends to paint and do art talk! We often set up a still life of flowers which one of the participants brings for set up! "A Touch of Orange", a still life watercolor painting on paper, is inspired by this mixed bouquet of beautiful summer flowers! The loose interpretation of the bouquet makes for a lively and spontaneous creation resulting from a delightful painting experience! The painting is beautifully double matted, with glass , and custom framed!

"Catching The Light" Original Still Life Floral Oil Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

As I painted this floral oil painting in my studio, the light coming from the window stayed consistent until the end. Often, a light source will change dramatically, challenging the artist in that he must remember the initial inspiration for the painting. For me, so often it is the way light falls across the subject matter! Such is the joy and challenge of painting from life. Hydrangea is a southern flowering bush that brings me great joy in my garden from mid spring through late June!
