Red Or White?
6" x 6" Oil
SOLD
I've been wanting to paint a piece on a background toned in black This wine glass seemed like the perfect opportunity. I like the effect and think I'll tone some more dark.
This is the painting the client chose. Which one of the four wine glasses would you have chosen?

"Shake it Up" by Sandy Bradford
Time for a fun, loose, alla prima oil painting!
This old diner scene with salt and pepper shakers seemed simple enough for just such a painting. I had fun with the colors, too.
This painting was completed on an 8" x 8" canvas panel, and is ready for framing.
Thanks again for stopping by. Please visit with me often!

1485 Classic Partners SOLD
6" x 12" oil on panel due to be framed when dry.
I recently painted a similar composition of Stilton and grapes which I enjoyed painting very much it sold quite rapidly after framing. I've a few ideas of what I want to paint this week keeping them really classic and realistic. I'm looking forward to eating this yummy cheese tonight with hubby after dinner.

Impressionistic Still Life by Pam Holnback
A Nice Merlot
6" x 6" Oil
$100.00 + $10. s/h
In painting this series of four I used both white and red wines. It not only made it more fun for me, I thought that that would give the client more color choices. After meeting with her I thought that I should have asked if they preferred white or red wine. In retrospect, I'm glad that I didn't as I might have only painted that color.

Gloria J Zucaro's "Twilight & Sunset"
8"H x10"W Oil on Utrecht Canvas Board This painting is available through the Daily Paintworks Auction site. Bidding starts at $100.00.00 and 10% will be donated breast cancer research. The "47" project is in response to a challenge by Kimberly Conrad from Contemporary Fine Art International. All are welcome to join in the challenge. Go to http://kimberlyconraddailypaintings.blogspot.com
The challenge this week is presented by Jean Nelson. I chose to do it in a triadic color scheme. I first toned the canvas with cad red medium. After it dried I proceeded with a triadic color scheme of cad orange, viridian, and manganese violet letting the toned background show through for a sunset feel to the painting....my favorite time of day with landscapes!

6" x 6" Oil
$100.00 + $10.00 s/h
I received a commission to paint a wine glass. This client had purchased two of my other pieces, wine bottles and corks with a cork screw. She wanted a third, knowing that that would look better in her home. It isn't always that you get to see where your pieces are and how your pieces look in someone's home. But, she invited me over to get my opinion, see her colors, and see about the third piece. The two paintings are hanging in their great room, over a small bureau that they use as a bar. They look great (if I may say so myself.) I hope to be able to see the third, when it's up. I loved painting the wine glass. So, I painted four and let her choose the one she wanted.

"So Not Returning" By Kelli Miller
So I bought these shoes at Target with the intention of returning them as soon as I had painted them. After the painting was complete I thought hmmm they are kinda cool. All it took was for a fellow artist to tell me to try them on (they just happen to be my size). I am so not returning them!

Giselle McMenamin- SO MANY ARTISTS/GALLERIES CAN MAKE USE OF THE ARTICLE BELOW
Many times I 've walked into a gallery, in NYC mind you, to be treated like I wasn't even there. Not a good sales approach for sure. Usually I'm scoping the location out to see what the reception is like and if I'd want to show my work there. Why bother putting time into a show if nobody is going to support your work with enthusiasm or general information?? Although Carolyn Henderson's article references a yarn shop the concept is relevant to any sales venue. Read below for a glimpse at the huge marketing faux pas of not being friendly or inviting. www.musingsbygm.blogspot.com Giselle McMenamin

This lovely little vase was given to me by my daughter for my birthday last year. It has a vintage hand painted look. It is only about 5 inches tall but packs a punch with the beautiful blues, pinks and greens in the floral design.

Purple Vase
"Purple Crocus Flowers" by Sandy Bradford
Today seemed like the perfect day to paint crocuses. Well, why not?
Although these were painted from a photo, it was really a very good, clear photo. (I actually considered painting the live African violet on my table first, but the lighting in the room was too strong, i.e. no shadows.)
So crocuses won out. This is an 8" x 8" oil on 1" stretcher bars, gallery wrapped canvas, suitable for framing or hanging without a frame for a more contemporary look.

This morning my plein air group painted at a home with a magnificent garden. Every square inch of the yard has been turned into growing space for herbs, vegetables and flowers. It was magnificent! And, the freshly baked rhubarb pie was delicious! Thank you Natalya.

Gloria J Zucaro's "The Present" and The Past Challenge
8'H X 10"W SOLD
This is the latest Daily Paintworks Challenge. Wrap up a present and paint it. Well, as it happens today is my birthday and on Tuesday afternoon a box arrived from my ex-sister-in-law. I opened the box and this lovely present was in it. So I painted the gift box along with the really beautiful card. The card has sparkles on it...I just love anything that sparkles. After a Thai dinner at my son's house tonight with my daughter-in-law and my adorable grandson, age three, we opened presents. In this box there was a beautiful little bird, actually about life size and a wonderful candle with a bird, nest and flowers reverse painted on the glass. Two additions to my collection for future paintings. Although I don't get to see my sister-in-law much anymore, I always think of her fondly and remember the good times we had together when we were as close as true sisters.

Gloria J Zucaro's "One Potato, Two Potato, Three Potato"
8"H x 8"W Oil on Canvas Panel
$65.00 plus 7.00 S&H
This painting was a lot of fun, and I get to eat the potatoes! I will dress up the Idaho with butter and cream cheese after cooking in the microwave for 10 minutes. The red I might cook and put into an olive oil, vinegar, garlic and salt dressing. The sweet potato will be good baked with cinnamon and butter.

"Dinner For One" by Sandy Bradford
8" x 8" Oil on Canvas Panel
Guess I was in a blue mood. I thought it would be cool to try a tonal painting, so I set about toning the background of this canvas panel with a blue-green, fairly neutral color.
This one place dinner setting seemed to match the mood that I was going for, so I used primarily blues and whites to establish three dimension.

I've mentioned the challenges of plein air painting, and have mentioned some additional challenges of plein air painting on a boat, ie: changing light, changing reflections on the water, high glare. Another one is boat movement. As the boat sways and rocks slowly with the water, you aren't always aware of this. But, when you're painting and look up and the shadow right in front of you is different, you just go with what was there! You can't keep changing light and shadow.

I picked this daisy from my garden from among a bunch of plants that had gone wild and taken over a lot of the bed in which I had planted them, the thugs! Anyway I popped it in this little blue and white jug and set it up inside my old oak box and off I went.

"Let's Follow the Big Guy" by Sandy Bradford
Oil on 1" Stretcher Bars
Gallery Wrapped Canvas
$75 USD, includes shipping
$75 USD, includes shipping
I set up my light box again, and decided on the title before I even began painting this small oil on stretched canvas. The large green apple looked as though he was in authority, so the two clementines became the followers, exclaiming, "Let's Follow the Big Guy"...
It's good to be back in the saddle, so to speak. I'm settling back in, and plan to get busy with several new plein aire landscapes. I can already see these paintings in my mind, and these canvases are going to be VERY colorful. Can't wait to share them with you.
Thanks for stopping by.
